This nomad’s journey started in 2015 when I decided to take a break from my corporate career and to figure myself out, In those nine months, I traveled, worked part-time on the projects which excite me, started my blog and sometimes just simply sat and did nothing.

This time alone with myself or time away from a routine day to day life was a seed to liberation.

During this time I met the most exciting people and learned the most exciting skills.

While traveling on a family trip to Varanasi and Rajasthan. India’s rich textile heritage attracted me towards it, Using these unique textiles in interiors is not common practice yet the idea of Indian interiors mentioned or showcased in the outside world is very delusional and has been a mixed bag in terms of Indian aesthetics.

I suddenly wanted to change that perspective that India is very colourful, well it is! But we are also a nation of Gandhian that has always loved simplicity and minimalism and our interiors surely show that It's a matter of fitting the subtle Indian aesthetics into a wide vast variety of the world of interiors.

So, Inspired by the idea of fine Indian textile and to showcase the minimalist side of it, NomadByHeart Interiors was conceptualised. Also as a society, We are moving towards slow and sustainable clothing and now it's time to move towards thoughtful and sustainable interiors.

It was this thought that made me travel through several cities in India to do my textile research, Starting from Varanasi where hand-weaving is at heart center. I met some amazing artisans and was fortunate enough to see their craft of weaving. Sourcing hand woven fabric was a challenge though as it comes with its own cost and time.

My textile Journey continued to Rajasthan, Bangalore for its amazing block printing and to Ahmedabad, for its organic fabrics. It took almost a year to build the supply chain which, to be honest, is easily broken in India :) By 2018, I had the raw fabric in my hands and enthusiasm at its peak when the pregnancy happens to knock on my door. So with a half belly full with my now 6 months old daughter ..I was roaming in the streets of Bangalore with a massive lot of fabrics for dying before they can go for discharge block print process. It was exactly the same day today a year ago.

I can go on and on about the story afterward and a few happy and few frustrating moments until today, but given the fact I am here today ..Launching this dream project of mine is absolute bliss. I am sure the happy and frustrated days are to be continued but it’s the joy of creating something beautiful is gets me going :)
